Volunteering as a camp counselor is an amazing way to make a difference in the lives of kids who could use some joy, laughter, and a little extra magic. We know the application process can feel a bit daunting, but don’t worry—we’ve got your back! Here’s how to fill out your application with confidence:
Find the Perfect References
This is your chance to show off the amazing team of supporters who know how incredible you are. Here are some tips for choosing great references:
Choose people who’ve seen you in action, especially working or volunteering with kids.
Ask individuals you have a good relationship with so it’s not awkward to ask them for a recommendation.
Some ideas on who to choose are a colleague from work, a volunteer coordinator, or even someone who’s seen your abilities to connect with kids (like a teacher or mentor) are great examples.
When you ask, make it easy for them—share a little about Camp Casco and why you’re applying. Most people are thrilled to help when they know how much it means to you.
Show Us Your Personality
Camp Casco thrives because of the unique, wonderful personalities our counselors bring to camp. So we want to know: what kind of counselor are you?
Are you leading the charge with camp songs and silly dances? Share some of your favorite activities and stories where you were the life of the party.
Or maybe you’re the quiet, empathetic presence kids turn to for comfort. How do you provide a quiet space for others to feel safe?
