10 Things We Loved at Camp Casco 2024
When we think about Camp Casco, we can’t help but smile. Every year, this special place becomes a community of joy, growth, and connection for kids and families navigating the challenges of childhood cancer.
There are so many incredible activities and memories every summer that it’s hard to pick our favorite moments (but we tried)! In this blog, we’re sharing some activities from 2024 that stand out the most.
Here are 10 unforgettable moments that made last summer at Camp Casco truly magical:
1. Egg Roulette
A camper favorite, Egg Roulette always brings laughter and fun to camp. Watching campers smash eggs on counselors’ heads last summer was as hilarious as ever. The excitement of not knowing whether the egg would be raw or hard-boiled kept everyone on edge, and the messy aftermath left everyone in fits of giggles.
These moments of carefree joy remind us how important it is to let loose and embrace the unexpected. Campers love Egg Roulette so much that we even brought the game to our annual Campfires & Cocktails gala!
2. Dunk Tank
The dunk tank was the place to be on hot summer days. It is a staple at all three camps and a favorite activity for campers and counselors alike.
We love to see the anticipation of campers sitting under the water bucket and giggling with joy when the water hits. It’s heartwarming to see kids cheer each other on (and then work together to dunk counselors).
3. Break-Dancing at Sibling Camp
At Sibling Camp, we embraced the newest Olympic sport and hosted our very own break-dancing competition! Seeing kids be silly and show off their dance moves was so much fun. Gold medals all around!
4. French Café Day at The One Mission Day Camp
This year, campers donned aprons and channeled their inner chefs to create a Parisian-inspired lunch for their counselors.
From planning a delicious menu to delivering meals with flair, campers showcased incredible creativity and teamwork. The giggles, “Bon appétits,” and chef’s hats made it an unforgettable day that left everyone feeling like culinary stars.
5. Visits from Camp Casco Alumni
In 2014, Camp Casco celebrated 10 years of camp magic. Three Camp Casco alumni visited Oncology Camp to commemorate this special moment and talked about their experiences around a bonfire. Jevon, Ashlynn, and Melissa shared their first memories of camp, their favorite activities, and how the lessons and experiences of Camp Casco shaped their future.
6. The Camp Dance at Oncology Camp
The Camp Dance is always a highlight of the week. Campers and counselors are dressed to impress and dance the night away.
From the electric slide to spontaneous dance-offs, it’s one of our favorite nights at camp. The glitter and laughter may have been temporary, but the memories will last a lifetime, thanks to our photobooth!
Special thanks to Mikey V of KISS 108 and City Event Group, who always brings the tunes and the energy to keep us going through the night.
7. Unicorn and Dinosaur Love Story at Sibling Camp
This year, Sibling Camp gave us one of the most side-splitting moments yet, when campers dressed up in inflatable unicorn and dinosaur costumes and reenacted a hilarious love story.
The sheer absurdity of it had everyone in stitches. It reminded us to embrace our silly side, and sometimes, you just need a good laugh.
8. Family Fun Day at The One Mission Day Camp
Our annual tradition, our Day Camp families head down to the water for Family Fun Day to celebrate the Fourth of July on a perfect summer day.
From kayaking adventures to lawn games and a BBQ feast, the day was packed with activities that brought families together. Moments like these remind us of the joy of creating memories with loved ones and growing our Camp Casco community.
9. Cabin Time
There’s something special about the quiet moments shared with cabin mates.
During Cabin Time, campers bonded over late-night chats, sharing stories about their experiences and inside jokes. These moments of connection are important pieces of creating friendships that last long after camp is over, proving that the spirit of Camp Casco extends far beyond our week together.
10. The Talent Show at Oncology Camp
The Oncology Camp Talent Show is a showcase of bravery and creativity year after year.
Campers took to the stage to sing, dance, perform skits, and share their unique talents. The audience was the most supportive you’ll ever find, cheering and clapping for every performer. For many, it was a chance to shine and feel celebrated for who they are without fear or judgment.
The Camp Casco Magic Lasts All Year
These 10 moments are just a glimpse of the fun and joy that unfolds all week long at Camp Casco.
Even better, the laughter, courage, and connections fostered during the week extend far beyond the camp experience. Camp Casco leaves a mark on everyone who steps through its doors, whether it’s the friendships formed, the confidence gained, or the joy discovered.
We hope you’ll join us this summer to help create more camp memories and top 10 moments in 2025!
