About This role
We are seeking a volunteer Camp Director to help us plan and execute our annual week-long Day Camp in summer 2025. As a member of our camp leadership team, you will get the unique opportunity to help create and lead a much-needed camp experience that helps patients, survivors, and siblings of childhood cancer build confidence and have fun.

You will directly oversee the rest of the Day Camp Leadership Team throughout planning and execution, helping our team meet internal deadlines and stay on track throughout the year. Most importantly, you will get the unique opportunity to help create and lead an incredible day camp for kids affected by cancer who can benefit immensely from this amazing week of fun.

Benefits
-
Volunteering with us is a great way to set yourself apart from other candidates! Our camp leaders must be able to take initiative and lead, and work as a cohesive member of our team, demonstrating a wide range of leadership skills. You’ll also meet many other volunteers in a variety of industries, growing your professional network. Volunteers will also gain professional references and recommendations from the Camp Casco to strengthen your next application and help you reach your career goals.
-
Serving as a leader at Camp Casco can help you use your existing skills in a creative new way. Teachers and childcare professionals may get to enjoy interacting with kids without the pressures of a school curriculum, for example, or pre-health students may learn more about caring for kids with a variety of medical needs. It can also help you learn new skills, like teamwork, leadership, or conflict resolution. Camp provides ample opportunities to develop skills that will continue to benefit you in the real world.
-
Camp brings together a variety of people with a variety of life experiences. You may never have seen a child with a port scar before, or heard a sibling talk about the emotional weight of seeing their brother go through countless painful treatments as a child. You will gain unique insights into the world of pediatric cancer and the many ways it impacts patients and their families. It’s also common to see a lot of kindness and joy at camp — a refreshing reminder of all of the goodness that exists in our loud and chaotic world.
-
At the end of the day, our camps are about having fun. Away from your desk and electronics, you’ll spend time laughing and getting messy, singing camp songs, and getting to know of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. It’s not uncommon for volunteers to leave with lasting memories and friendships, just like our campers do.
