What is Mt. Washington?
Known as the tallest peak in the Northeast, and home to the world’s worst weather, hiking Mount Washington is an incredible feat. Despite its challenges, its scenic views of the spectacular White Mountains make it one of the best hikes in New Hampshire. As a 2025 Summit Seeker, you’ll be part of a small hike team who will conquer an 8 mile round-trip trek to the top of Mount Washington together for an amazing cause.
What to Expect On Your Hike
On Saturday, May 31, we’ll meet outside of our lodge at 7 AM, and our support crew will drive all hikers over to our starting point at Ammonoosuc Ravine Trailhead. Together, we will ascend Mt. Washington from the west, reaching an elevation gain of around 4,000 feet before celebrating at the summit with a hot lunch around 12:30 PM. From there, we’ll descend towards the east past Herman Lake, and hike a total of more than 8 miles before reaching our finish line at Joe Dodge Lodge. We’ll enjoy a hot dinner with our 2025 Camp Champions at the Lodge to celebrate a successful hike day.
Those who have surpassed fundraising goals of $1,500 or more will have the opportunity to stay at JDL the night before (May 30), and those who have surpassed $2,000 or more will have the opportunity to stay both May 30 and May 31, enjoying more quality time with all of our hikers and the chance to reflect on a successful hike day.
