Trail Blazers Fundraising Tips: Getting Personal
You’ve gathered your team, you've set up your page, now it’s time to fundraise for Hikes For Hope and Camp Casco! We know that it can be hard to know how to start when it comes to asking for donations, so read below for some examples and best practices when it comes to fundraising:
Share Your Story and Your “Why”
While your FundRazr page automatically contains Camp Casco’s story and mission, the “Story” section is your place to elaborate and share your personal message.
Success in online fundraising comes from the emotional appeal: when donors feel connected to you and the “why” behind your decision to fundraise for Camp Casco, they are significantly more likely to contribute to your campaign. Here are some ways to help you personalize your story:
What inspired you to fundraise? Are you a childhood cancer survivor (or any cancer survivor)? Have you seen the camp’s impact first-hand? Do you simply believe in giving back to your community? Whatever inspired you to sign up for Trail Blazers, share it!
What do you feel when you think about Camp Casco and our work? When someone asks you about Camp Casco and what we do, what would you tell them? How would you describe our impact to someone who may not be familiar with us?
Do you have a special connection with Camp Casco? Have you been to camp or know someone who has? Maybe you’ve been a camp counselor or know someone who has volunteered with us. Maybe you were once a camper yourself! If you have a connection to camp, your donors will love to hear about it.
The more you personalize your page, the more connected your potential donors will feel. Sharing meaningful tidbits about your journey over a generic link with no information will make a huge difference in your fundraising!
Add Visuals
